I write poems and essays. My commentaries about music, theater and the visual arts have been heard on the radio, including WRTI (90.1 FM). I’ve been a piano teacher and music critic. After years as an arts journalist for many national publications, I find deep pleasure helping other writers find confidence and creativity in their voices. I coach at my studio in South Philadelphia, and for MuseHouse Center for the Literary Arts. I also tutor students online. No matter age or subject or level (remedial. advanced) I welcome all writers in search of a finer sentence.
I’ve been extremely fortunate in my teachers at the Peabody Conservatory of Music, the New York State Institute for Writers and at Warren Wilson where I recently completed my MFA and first book of poems, The Starlight Room. Henri Cole, Marianne Boruch and Gabrielle Calvocoressi: these are the mentors who inspire me to inspire you.
